FAQ’S ABOUT LGBTQIA+ therapy

  • LGBTQ+ therapy is tailored to meet the needs of folx who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, non-binary, asexual, intersex, and more; if you don’t fit neatly in a cis- or heteronormative box, then LGBTQ+ therapy is for you. As you work with a queer-affirming therapist, we’ll focus on identity exploration, personal growth, healing trauma, and addressing unique challenges such as discrimination, coming out, family dynamics, and internalized stigma. You will be able to explore all aspects of your identity without judgment, in a relational space that is safe, secure, and affirming of your whole personhood.

  • We have extensive first-hand experience working with LGBTQ+ clients. This experience has helped us to become aware of cis- or heteronormative bias, understand the unique challenges of LGBTQ+ clients, and develop a queer-affirming, trauma-informed approach to therapy. We are deeply committed to creating a supportive therapeutic space, to staying informed on current LGBTQ+ issues, and to integrating this knowledge into our practice. If you have more questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We can use a free consult to answer your questions and make sure you feel safe before you schedule a session.
